We are looking for a General Manager, Power Systems to lead Power Systems technology domain and team that looks beyond the power plants at the whole power grid and helps our customers build reliable power systems with a high penetration of renewable power. In this role you will actively collaborate with external and internal stakeholders to ensure our customers have reliable power systems throughout the journey towards a 100% renewable energy future.
This is a line manager position where you will be a member of Power Systems & Controls management team and report to Director, Power Systems & Controls. The preferred location is Vaasa, Helsinki or Turku in Finland. Other location within Europe can also be acceptable.
Job purpose:
The General Manager, Power Systems position is responsible for leading the Power Systems technology domain and the Power Systems team. This role requires both strong people leadership skills and technical expertise.
Role and Responsibilities:
• Continuously develop a common vision and roadmap for the power systems technology domain
• Drive development of functionality and solutions needed to build reliable power systems with engine power plant
• Ensure through modelling, simulation and engine testing that Wärtsilä´s solutions meet electric properties of power systems and electrical grids
• Understand global Grid Codes and steer development of solutions needed for compliance
• Develop competence and knowhow within the team
• Proactively connect with stakeholders to identify and understand their needs and plan the development on the common development roadmaps
• Be the servant leader for the team of 8 technology experts
• Implement agile methods and way of working when collaborating and planning work with the other technology domains in Engine Power Plants Technology organisation
• Drive the Wärtsilä Purpose and demonstrate Wärtsilä values
Required Qualifications:
Education:
• Holds a master's degree in Electric power system engineering or other applicable field of engineering
Experience:
• +7 years of experience in the energy industry with a proven record in a global business environment
Knowledge, skills and abilities:
• Strong knowledge and experience of power systems and electric grids
• Strong knowledge and experience of thermal and renewable power generation
• Strong knowledge and experience of power system modelling and simulation
• Knowledge and understanding of global Grid Codes
• Visionary and strategic thinking: able to see the big picture and think out of the box
• Recognised people leader who has ability to lead, empower and guide a high-performing team
• Ability to create clarity on direction and inspire people to take action towards the future goals
• Business minded and goal-oriented, drives for results with excellent planning and execution skills
• Strong influencing, networking and presentation skills and an ability to communicate efficiently with various stakeholders in an international environment
• Experience in agile way of working and agile methods is an advantage
