General Manager QEHS

We are looking for a General Manager QEHS with a main responsibility to proactively develop processes and documentation around Project QEHS, facilitating needed changes and supporting the project teams when introducing new fuel type engines at yards. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland. We can offer the possibility of hybrid work for the right candidate.
Your role and responsibilities
The General Manager QEHS will leverage his/her extensive experience and specialized knowledge to influence decision-making securing safe delivery of our projects to high standards. He/She will support management efforts to resolve critical situations that may compromise or affect quality and/or safety. The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of the global Customer Delivery team with diverse expertise.
Your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Maintain and apply knowledge of current health and safety policies and ensure compliance with HSE legislation.
- Create “sales to lifecycle” safety concepts for the new fuels.
- Work with Class regulations related to new fuels.
- Conduct thorough analysis of existing documentation related to project QEHS.
- Visit yards to secure safe commissioning procedures.
- Engage with other functions within the company to secure seamless process hand over points.
- Supporting sales organization on sales projects.
- Take our projects to the next level by formulating proposals for innovation and general development of QEHS.
- Coordinate, facilitate, and provide expertise in ongoing HSE development activities such as HSE training, risk assessments, and incident investigations.
- Prepare and present detailed reports, proposals, and presentations to stakeholders.
- Mentor and support project staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and professional development related to QEHS.
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:
- B.Sc. or M.Sc. in Engineering (e.g. chemical, mechanical or safety).
- Management system knowledge and skills for ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001.
- Minimum 3 years experience in HSE operations, including HSE risk management, and investigation, safety training, auditing, and development of safety activities.
- Good knowledge of safety, environmental and chemical legislation.
- Self-driven working style and analytical thinking.
- Readiness to travel.
- Experience in setting up QEHS related processes.
- Experience of working with class societies.
- Good knowledge of methanol, ammonia and hydrogen.
- Ability to establish relations at various levels of the organization.
