We are looking for a Hardware Architect with the main responsibility of defining the hardware systems architecture for the full lifecycle of our control system. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland, but also Turku, Finland is negotiable. We offer the possibility of hybrid remote work. 
  
Your role and responsibilities:

 
As a hardware architect, you will collect requirements and form a vision of the control system hardware setup together with stakeholders and experts. You will use the vision to build a hardware development roadmap in collaboration with product management. In our business upgrades are common and we hope you have a mindset to consider the lifetime of the system and how to upgrade it. In your daily work, you will work closely with other architects and technical leads with the technical vision of our control system. You will also support product owners with feature refinement and guide teams in implementing the desired hardware architecture. We will be happy to discuss your tasks based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of the agile Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions RDE, Automation & Controls team with diverse expertise.
 
Requirements for the position: 

 

  • 5+ years of experience in technical leadership in embedded hardware development
  • 10+ years of experience in the field of embedded hardware development
  • Excellent teamwork, coaching and communication skills
  • Ability to form a technical vision and communicate it efficiently
  • Ability to analyse requirements for CPU/FPGA technologies for correct technology selection
  • Fluency in verbal and written English, our everyday work language is English

 
Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:   

  • Relevant master's or bachelor's education
  • Understanding of control electronics  sensors and actuators
  • Knowledge of system powering and grounding concepts
  • Experience in digital signal processing
