Inspection Manager

We are now looking for a mechanical engineering oriented Inspection Manager to join the Supplier Development and Quality Control family in the Supply Management department in Wärtsilä Energy Business. In this role your responsibility will be in civil equipment category and product team supplier assessments and audits, product and manufacturing inspections and quality assurance activities.

 

Inspection Managers are responsible for the product quality inspections, following up the correction completion and developing corrective and preventive actions from the inspection results. Good co-operation with other internal experts, product, and category team members and with the suppliers is a key for success. Inspection Managers are also actively supporting in the Product Quality Assurance Plans (PQAP) and participating product teams action planning and decision making. In this combined Supplier Development and Quality Control position you are also verifying that suppliers are following Wärtsilä supplier requirements by assessments and audits.  You will also monitor and develop supplier performance, quality, and delivery utilizing defined Supplier Development tools.

 

Location:

Location of the position is Vaasa, with hybrid remote working possibilities

 

Responsibilities:

  • Product Quality Control and Inspections (approval / rejection) for civil and related equipment in Energy Business scope of supply
  • Participate in factory acceptance tests (FAT), delivery and dispatch inspections, process audits
  • Quality responsible on product teams
  • Develop and execute Supplier Development actions and improvements for civil equipment category
  • Execute activities related to supplier evaluation, for example supplier assessment, supplier audits and audit follow-up according to supplier audit plans 
  • Verify and maintain suppliers and contractor compliance to Wärtsilä´s supplier requirements 
  • Gather and analyse supplier performance data. Support in non-conformity reporting analyse and problem solving and lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
  • Technical quality support for internal and external customers

 

Requirements:

  • M.Sc or B.Sc in mechanical engineering or equivalent field
  • Minimum 5 year experience or deep understanding from mechanical or civil engineering, commissioning, design, production or quality control
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings, specifications, contractual technical documentation, standards, legislations etc.
  • Good with co-operation, communication, management, problem solving, decision making, reporting and negotiation skills
  • Previous experience of supplier and process audits, and lead auditor qualification (e.g ISO 9001) are seen as an advantage
  • IWS / IWT / IWE / IWI certificates are seen as an advantage
  • NDT experience & knowledge (valid certificates are seen as an advantage)
  • Good knowledge from steel structures and EN1090 requirements
  • Ability to travel approximately 50 - 60 day in a year (mostly on weekdays)
  • Good IM skills
  • Fluent in English and Finnish (other languages is seen as an advantage)
