With our Decarbonisation Services, we will further reduce emissions and improve efficiency on a plant and microgrid level. We do this by combining renewable, engine and storage assets with our intelligent energy management software platform to truly optimise the operations and reduce the overall energy cost for our customers. 

 

We are looking for a Lead Infrastructure & Platform Engineer with a main responsibility in leading the platforms, infrastructure, DevOps practices, and operational foundations that support the future of the GEMS product platform. The preferred location for this position is Helsinki or Vaasa, Finland. We offer a possibility to hybrid work.

 

 

Your role and responsibilities

 

As a Lead Infrastructure & Platform Engineer, your work will include defining and developing cloud-based infrastructure, platform services, DevOps practices, and operational capabilities for Wärtsilä’s Decarbonisation Services. The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of the Decarbonisation Services team with diverse expertise.

 

 

Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

 

  • Design, develop, and maintain cloud-based infrastructure and platform services.
  • Define architecture principles, standards, and best practices for reliability, scalability, security, and maintainability.
  • Establish and continuously improve DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and Infrastructure as Code.
  • Improve developer productivity through automation, tooling, monitoring, and self-service capabilities.
  • Drive operational excellence through observability, logging, monitoring, and incident management practices.
  • Act as the technical authority for platform and infrastructure-related topics.
  • Guide development teams on architecture, deployment strategies, cybersecurity, and platform design.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, cybersecurity specialists, and product management teams.

 

 

To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:

 

  • MSc/BSc degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms, preferably Google Cloud.
  • Proven experience in infrastructure architecture and platform engineering.
  • Deep understanding of DevOps methodologies, CI/CD practices, Infrastructure as Code, and configuration management.
  • Strong knowledge of networking, security, identity management, and system integration.
  • Experience leading technical initiatives across multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Experience with Kubernetes, containerized solutions, GitHub, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, DevOps, or similar technologies is considered an advantage.
  • Knowledge of energy management systems, power systems, microgrids, industrial software solutions, or experience in platform transitions and modernisation programs is seen as beneficial.
