Manager, Data Centre Concepts
Join us in shaping Wärtsilä’s future in the rapidly growing Data Centre power segment
Wärtsilä is accelerating its position in the global Data Centre power market. As customers scale their AI and hyperscale computing platforms, the demand for reliable, flexible, and highly integrated onsite power continues to rise. The industry is rapidly evolving where efficiency, economics, environmental impact, and long-term lifecycle value is being prioritised. Wärtsilä aims to play a leading role in this transition.
To strengthening our technical and commercial capabilities and build a long-term position in this segment, we are now recruiting a (Senior) Manager, Data Centre Concepts. This is an exciting role supporting both our current data centre initiative and Wärtsilä’s long-term ambition to become a valued and trusted partner in the Data Centre power ecosystem. If you want to be part of shaping the Data Centre power ecosystem and you are excited about combining your technical and strategic business capabilities, this role is for you.
About the role
As (Senior) Manager, Data Centre Concepts, you will serve as a key technical owner driving the development of data centre specific solutions. You will strengthen Wärtsilä’s capability to understand, design, and communicate future-proofed power solutions for a market that demands speed, reliability, modularity, and resilience against AI-driven transient loads.
You will collaborate closely with strategic customers, industry partners, technology suppliers, and internal cross-functional teams. Your work ensures we proactively shape customer solutions rather than react to market demand, positioning Wärtsilä as a trusted partner in one of the world’s fastest-growing energy segments.
This is a global role with preferred location in either Vaasa, Turku or Helsinki, Finland or Paris, France. Other locations within Europe are possible as well. We offer a possibility to hybrid work.
You will be responsible for:

· Assess the fitness of Wärtsilä’s engine technologies against global Data Centre trends, customer requirements, and competitor advancements
· Support the development of both New Build and Lifecycle product offering
Advance system-level understanding of Data Centre power architectures
· Analyse and model evolving power supply setups for AI training and inference workloads
· Support internal simulation work and contribute to the development of new technical capabilities
Strengthen Wärtsilä’s ecosystem and partnerships
· Engage with potential partners to build a combined offering and expand Wärtsilä’s footprint in the data centre industry
· Lead technical dialogue with customers, partners, and solution integrators
Drive internal collaboration across Wärtsilä
· Work closely with internal stakeholders and cross-functional teams
· Contribute to the data centre business development and support continuous market and technology monitoring
To succeed in this role, you will bring
· Strong background of more than 7 years’ experience in data centre infrastructure, power systems, engine-based power generation, or related advanced energy technologies.
· Experience in system modelling, transient load analysis, hybrid power systems, or advanced electrical engineering
· Ability to translate industry trends and customer needs into actionable development steps
· Excellent collaboration skills and ability to work across teams and external partners
· Proactive and strategic mindset, comfortable operating in a fast-evolving market
· Strong communication skills and fluency in English
Additional requirements for the Senior level
· Proven ability to shape strategic direction within a technical or energy‑related domain, preferably in data centre or power system environments.
· Proven ability to define and drive standardised, repeatable solution concepts together with major industry partners, technology vendors, or engineering houses.
· Strong industry network, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders such as hyperscalers, colocation developers, IPPs, utilities, consultants, and technology integrators.
· Capability to translate technical solutions into clear commercial value propositions, business cases, and long‑term lifecycle benefits.
