We are looking for a Manager for our product / technology development Single Cylinder Engine (SCE) testing team. The position is permanent and it located in the Wärtsilä Sustainable Technology Hub in Vaasa, Finland.
Your role and responsibilities:
In this position, you are working in the front end of Wärtsilä’s engine and technology development. We are offering you the possibility to participate in the development of future engines and technologies, and to contribute to the accelerating realization of decarbonization objectives as a part of a skilled test team.
As a Manager, your work will mainly focus on these responsibilities:
- Take care of the superior tasks and responsibilities including strong safety focus
- Plan and manage the technology and product development focused SCE testing activities and lead the people
- Maintain and develop the team's know-how, competence and way of working
- Develop and implement the operational-level action plan
- Report the progress and task status of the activities
- Ensure the quality of operation, results and technical documentation
- Provide technical support to other Wärtsilä organizations and proactively work to enable cross-organizational cooperation
- Participate in technology & product development projects together with experts and project managers
- Develop engine testing and validation methods
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- Relevant technical education (MSc or BSc in engineering)
- Supervisory and leadership skills
- Relevant technical background with knowledge of engine operation, auxiliary systems and installations, automation, and measurements
- Good skills in communication, planning, and documentation
- Good teamwork skills, as well as an ability to work independently
- Very systematic and active approach to work
- Fluent in English and in Finnish or Swedish, both spoken and written
