On-Call Trainee, Project Purchasing

We are looking for an On-Call Trainee to join the Project Purchasing team. As an On-Call Trainee, you can work up to 25 hours per week. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland, and the selected candidate must be a full-time student studying for a degree in Finland. This is a fixed-term role for 10 months, and we also offer the possibility to work in a hybrid model.

 

 

Your role and responsibilities

 

As an On-Call Trainee, Project Purchasing, your work will include purchasing-related tasks such as order creation and follow-up, inbound transport bookings, and invoice handling. You’ll be working as part of our energetic Project Purchasing team in Marine Power Supply, supporting the purchasing of engine auxiliaries and propulsion equipment as needed. Your stakeholders are located worldwide.

 

 

Your work will focus on the following responsibilities:

 

  • Handling all purchasing-related activities (purchasing, follow-up, confirmations, inbound transport, and invoice handling)
  • Ensuring that all components and documentation are available at the required time at the chosen subcontractor, warehouse, or customer in order to secure on-time delivery
  • Acting as a stand-in and providing support for colleagues
  • Communicating project status updates on a weekly basis with all involved stakeholders and collaborating with suppliers and stakeholders worldwide to resolve day-to-day issues
  • Addressing price increases that are not in line with the project scope and taking action where needed
  • Monitoring project orders and measuring quality levels, delivery reliability, costs, and lead times
  • Verifying the alignment of long- and short-term forecasts with Supply Chain Management

 

 

To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:

 

  • Experience with SAP S/4HANA, especially in purchasing and invoice handling, and knowledge of Basware is considered an advantage
  • Ongoing studies in a relevant field at a university or a university of applied sciences
  • Excellent communication skills in English and in Finnish or Swedish
