Trainee, Product Automation Testing


Wärtsilä Marine Power, R&D and Engineering, Testing & Validation is seeking for an On-Call Trainee to the Product Automation Testing team. Testing & Validation operates laboratory engines and test rig platforms, with the main purpose to test new concepts and technologies and to validate new components and product releases for Wärtsilä engines. Testing & Validation is also responsible of customer delivery engines’ factory acceptance- and product conformity testing.


The position is temporary and maximum 25h/week (Jan – May 2023) and located at the Sustainable Technology Hub in Vaasa, Finland. A well performing candidate may get the opportunity to continue as a full time Trainee during the summer 2023.


Main responsibilities as a Trainee: 


Supporting the Product Automation Testing team in daily activities:

  • UNIC (Embedded control system of Wärtsilä engines) component testing and validation
  • Engine Laboratory test platform support and maintenance
  • Customer Delivery/Test run support
  • STH Common Automation Lab development


We would hope you to have: 


  • Education: Automation/Electrical Engineering
  • Work experience: little or even none can be considered
  • Language: fluency in English, both written and spoken
  • Willingness to work beside studies (max 25h/week)
  • Preferably in her/his 1st half of the studies
