In this fast changing world of energy, we are constantly on the lookout for future-oriented talent to join our team and to work towards enabling sustainable societies through innovation in technology and services - together. Want to join the ride?

About the role

  • In this role, you will lead the strategy, development, and execution of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) processes, data, and tools across Energy. You will ensure that PLM capabilities support both current and future business needs, acting as a critical link between business stakeholders and IT.

  • As the end-to-end owner of the Energy PLM strategy, you position PLM as a strategic business enabler. You will drive organisational and end‑user adoption through strong capabilities in digitalisation, change management, governance, and lifecycle management—delivering measurable business value and long-term lifecycle impact.

Key responsibilities

  • Define and drive the Energy PLM strategy, acting as PLM concept owner within the process digitalisation roadmap.

  • Ensure the PLM strategy aligns with business needs and supports Wärtsilä’s overarching digital transformation objectives.

  • Lead end-to-end development of PLM processes, data, and tools, covering the full lifecycle from product development and management, configuration and scope management, operational lifecycle through to end-of-life for products and power plants.

  • Key PLM-related tools include Autodesk solutions, Teamcenter, Tacton CPQ, and SAP.

  • Drive data-driven processes and automated integrations across business processes, with a strong focus on configuration, digital design collaboration, and information flow.

  • Ensure effective utilisation of product data across configuration, engineering, supply chain management, and site operations in new builds, upgrades, and field services.

  • Digital twins, data products, and data platforms are essential enablers in this area.

  • Safeguard traditional PLM-related document management while steering the transition from document-driven practices to a modern, data-driven PLM landscape.

  • Develop digital design collaboration with suppliers, subcontractors, engineering partners, and customers.

  • Collaborate closely with Energy and Wärtsilä PLM stakeholders to validate requirements and design solutions that deliver tangible business value.

  • Participate in governance forums and steering committees to ensure alignment, prioritisation, and value realisation.

Required skills and experience

  • Strong understanding of PLM processes and their end-to-end business implications.

  • Several years of experience in PLM process development, with a focus on digital transformation, data management, and multi-system alignment.

  • Proven experience working in complex, multi-system and multi-stakeholder environments.

  • M.Sc. in Engineering or Economics.

  • Demonstrated success in leading large-scale PLM transformation or improvement initiatives.

  • Experience across both Plant PLM and Product PLM domains in full lifecycle aspect.

  • Solid experience in digital design collaboration.

  • Strong understanding of data platforms, data governance, and data lifecycle management.

  • Leadership capability with experience driving change across organisational boundaries.

  • Excellent change management, communication, and stakeholder collaboration skills.

  • Understanding of process optimisation and automation.
