Plant Operations Expert

We are looking for a Plant Operations Expert at the Wärtsilä Sustainable Technology Hub (STH). In this role, you work as a part of the Plant Development team with expertise in plant projects. You will have the opportunity to actively contribute and shape a dynamic and evolving plant environment. This position offers a technically diverse and flexible work setting, focusing on both new plant technologies and maintaining the current systems. Our team operates as an enabler for the future engine technology and this role requires a determined and systematic approach to drive progress. The location for this position is in Vaasa, Finland.

As a Plant Operations Expert, your work will include:

 

  • Installation supervision for plant development and optimization projects
  • Commissioning and start-up of new/updated systems
  • Plant system development and optimization works
  • Be the technical support for different project-related issues
  • Support in plant instructions and user manuals
  • Secure the needed spare parts to minimize plant downtime in case of equipment failure
  • Implementing and promoting a new safety culture regarding sustainable fuels
  • Perform plant development planning work in cooperation with project teams  
  • Plant support for the T&V Test Service team 

 

To succeed in this position, we expect you to have:

 

  • Several years of experience in the installation and commissioning of marine/energy projects
  • Self-driven, active personality with excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • A proactive attitude, cost awareness, and effectiveness
  • Good Finnish and English language skills, Swedish skills are considered an advantage

 

You will shine in this role if you have:

 

  • Previous experience working on large construction projects
  • Project management skills
  • Experience in using SAP, AutoCAD, Navisworks, or M-Files
  • Procurement skills
  • Problem-solving, negotiation, and presentation skills
