Product Lifecycle Engineer

Power Supply is a business unit with over 2000 professionals in close to 20 locations globally. Our focus is centred on developing the Wärtsilä engine portfolio and ensuring high-quality supply and delivery of engines for Marine and Energy Business needs through active development of the product portfolio, driving and enabling system integration, and an uncompromised customer centricity in all activities.
For our Product Management and Sales Support business function, we are now looking for a motivated and experienced Product Lifecycle Engineer, Wärtsilä 31.

 

Position information:

 

The role is offered as a permanent contract and the preferred location is Vaasa, Finland.

 

What will you be doing?

 

In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction by delivering quality products and services that meet client expectations. You will oversee product quality to maintain compliance with Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) standards. Reporting to the Head of Product Management & Product Owner, W31.


Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Support Sales and Sales engineering on technical matters
  • Participate in developing engine products together with other colleagues
  • Participate in external meetings representing the engine product
  • Competitor evaluation and benchmarking
  • Product support for Delivery and Partner organisations
  • Product-related technical information creation and maintenance for internal and external use
  • Secure cost/saving target materialisation

 

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:

 

  • Good understanding of the marine engine market preferred
  • Solid technical skills 
  • Experience in value proposition work is considered as a big advantage
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills
  • Experience working in customer interface
  • Ability to work independently with support from own team and cross-functional teams
  • Proactive, positive and can-do attitude
  • Ability to work in cross-functional organisation
  • Relevant academic background (BSc / MSc in engineering)
