Position description

 

We are looking for a dedicated Product Manager for STH (Sustainable Technology Hub) who leads the Continuous Product Development team to continue the developments and improvements started in the Design for Manufacturing (DFM) project. Design for Manufacturing is a critical process to manufacture and deliver engines to the customer. The DFM solution is mainly implemented in our global Teamcenter PLM platform which is integrated into SAP.

 

A Product Manager would be part of the Product Engineering & Lifecycle Management team to achieve its targets and ensure the stability and continuous delivery of developments in Design for Manufacture areas for STH. The Product Engineering & Lifecycle Management team is responsible for defining and delivering IT services in its domain, managing service, solution and application lifecycles of Wärtsilä’s design and engineering systems, calculation and simulation systems, product configurator systems, content publishing systems, PLM reports as well as PDM/PLM systems. 

 

The team develops and manages service specifications, and solution roadmaps according to architectural guidelines, and creates functional specifications out of received business requirements for internal or external solution development. It is also responsible for delivering projects within and related to various development projects and programs in the PLM and engineering domain.

 

This is a global position with the possibility of partial remote work but the preferred location for this permanent role is in Vaasa, Finland or alternatively, within a similar time zone. For instance, Turku or Helsinki, Finland can also be considered.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Manages continuous product development team consisting of internal and external personnel to ensure developments and deliveries
  • Identifies the customer need and the larger business objectives that a product or feature will fulfil, articulates what success looks like for a product, and rallies a team to turn that vision into a reality
  • Works closely with the Business Improvement Owner(s)
  • Supports business stakeholders to prioritise the continuous development pipeline
  • Manages the prioritised continuous development backlog
  • Responsible for the prioritised backlog, maximising the return on investment and creating a clear goal for each sprint
  • Document user stories and project requirements together with the team based on the input from the business improvement owner
  • Accountable for Scrum team deliveries 
  • Develops and maintains relationships with vendors and service providers 
  • Ensures that appropriate governance is in place
  • Maintains stakeholder communication and customer relations
  • Gives input to rolling forecast, possible year-end accruals and realised spending against PO
  • Ensure that the business and IT are in alignment in their own responsibility area
  • Managing the roadmap of own responsibility area

 

Requirements:

 

  • Excellent knowledge of Teamcenter, NX will be an advantage
  • Excellent knowledge of design, engineering and manufacturing would be an advantage
  • Experience working in an extended enterprise
  • Excellent knowledge of working with Agile/Scrum and DevOps methodologies
  • Strong experience in solutions/systems development lifecycle: requirements, design, implementation, quality control, and deployment combined with excellent coordination skills
  • Excellent communication and collaboration with strong presentation and facilitation skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a passion to understand and fulfil customer needs
  • Team leadership and strategic thinking skills
  • M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Economics, Data Science or other related field of study
  • Excellent knowledge of product lifecycle management domain and processes
  • Proactive, development-minded and goal-focused attitude to work
  • Wärtsilä business knowledge is a great advantage
