Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions RDE, Automation & Controls is now looking for a Product Owner to join our product owner team. We in A&C develop and maintain embedded engine control systems for all Wärtsilä engines. Our product owner team has end-to-end responsibility for innovations and life cycle management of our engine control system.

As a Product Owner, you’ll play a crucial role in overseeing the development of products related to control system electronics and software.

Your responsibilities will include:

 

  • Project management: Leading electronics control module development projects together with our suppliers
  • Understanding client needs: Collaborate with prospective users and clients to understand their requirements and translate them into product specifications.
  • Vision and Roadmap: Participate in refining the overall vision for the product and maintain a cohesive vision throughout the development process. Create a product roadmap based on this vision together with the Product manager and owner team.
  • Backlog Management: Manage the product backlog, prioritize tasks based on changing requirements, and ensure alignment with client preferences.
  • Product Creation Oversight: Oversee all stages of product creation, including design and development.
  • Progress Monitoring: Continuously monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the process.
  • Communication and Reporting: Close communication and negotiation with suppliers and stakeholders regarding ongoing, upcoming, and past development initiatives. Work closely with the product team and end-users to deliver updates and status reports.


Your background and skills:

 

  • A suitable candidate could have a Master's or Bachelor's degree in Automation, Process Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar
  • Skills to build an understanding of how customers operate our products and the customers’ businesses.
  • Good communication and presentation skills for different kinds of audiences
  • Curiosity to learn new things and continuously improve our way of working.
  • Some knowledge of electronics & software development or production.
  • Knowledge of agile development practises is required.
  • Product owner or product management experience is required.
  • Project management skills are seen as a plus.
