Wärtsilä Marine Power Solutions RDE, Automation & Controls is now looking for a product owner to join our product owner team. We in A&C develop and maintain embedded engine control systems for all Wärtsilä engines. Our product owner team has end-to-end responsibility for new innovations and life cycle management of our engine control system. We are looking for a Product Owner, Engine Control Systems. The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Helsinki and Turku are optional. We offer a possibility to hybrid remote work.
Your role and responsibilities:
As a Product Owner, you’ll play a crucial role in overseeing the development of products related to engine control functionality.
Requirements for the position:
- Understanding client needs: Collaborate with prospective users and clients to understand their requirements and translate them into product specifications
- Vision and Roadmap: Participate in refining the overall vision for the product and maintain a cohesive vision throughout the development process. Create a product roadmap based on this vision together with the Product manager and owner team
- Backlog Management: Manage the product backlog, prioritize tasks based on changing requirements, and ensure alignment with client preferences
- Product Creation Oversight: Oversee all stages of product creation, including design and development
- Progress Monitoring: Continuously monitor and evaluate product progress at each stage of the process
- Communication and Reporting: Close communication and negotiation with stakeholders regarding ongoing, upcoming, and past development initiatives. Work closely with the product team and end-users to deliver updates and status report
Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:
- Skills to build understanding in how customers operate our products and the customers’ businesses
- Good communication and presentation skills for different kind of audience
- Curiosity to learn new things and continuously improve way of working
- Understanding of automation’s role in manufacturing, energy or process industry, preferably having working experience in some of the above-mentioned industries
- Suitable candidate shall have master's degree in Automation, Process engineering, Computer Science or similar
- Knowledge in agile development practices
- Product owner or product management experience required
- Good understanding of Wartsila Engine Businesses is a big benefit
