Wärtsilä Energy Business is looking for a Legal Counsel for its Business Units & Compliance legal team.

 

As a Legal Counsel in the Business Units & Compliance legal team in Energy Legal you will handle various types of legal and compliance matters in an international setting. In this position, you will report to the Managing Counsel, Business Units & Compliance in Wärtsilä Energy Business. The preferred locations are Helsinki and Vaasa, Finland. Other Wärtsilä Energy Business locations within the relevant time zones can be considered.

 

What are your main tasks and responsibilities? 

  • Provide solutions-oriented and proactive legal and compliance advice on a variety of business matters in Energy Business.
  • Provide legal support to the Supply Chain Management organization, including by reviewing and negotiation various procurement and logistics contracts and by handling thereto related claims and disputes
  • Negotiate, draft and advise on various other types of transactions and commercial contracts
  • Provide competition law and other compliance advice to Energy Business teams
  • Provide training to the business on relevant legal and compliance issues
  • Actively participate in the development and implementation of Energy Business policies, work processes and templates

 

What do we expect from you?

 

A.    Education:

  • Law degree from a relevant civil or common law jurisdiction

B.    Experience and Competences:

  • A minimum of 3 to 5 years work experience in either an in-house or a private practice role
  • Relevant experience includes corporate and commercial transactions in an international setting
  • Experience or interest in competition law and/or trade compliance is an advantage

C.    Other skills:

  • Excellent negotiation and influencing skills coupled with commercial acumen and strategic thinking
  • Solid drafting, presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent command of English, both written and oral as English is the working language.
  • Language skills beyond English are a plus.
  • Ability to see the big picture and where one can best add value for the business
  • Can-do attitude combined with innovative mindset and willingness to challenge the status quo
  • Be team oriented with a positive attitude 
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural organisation and virtual teams
  • Readiness to travel
