Senior Development Manager - Autonomous Plant

We are looking for a (Senior) Development Manager – Autonomous Plant with a main responsibility in leading the development of advanced simulation models, digital twins, and algorithms for power plant smart auxiliary systems within the Autonomous Plant team.

The preferred location for this position is Turku, Helsinki or Vaasa – Finland. Hybrid remote work is possible.  

 

Your role and responsibilities

As a (Senior) Development Manager, your work will include designing, developing, and integrating advanced physics‑based and data‑driven models, digital twins, and algorithms that enable reliable, predictive, and autonomous plant operations.

 

You will work as part of an innovative Autonomous Plant team with diverse expertise.

 

Typical responsibilities include:

· Develop physics-based and data-driven models for power plant auxiliary systems.

· Build and validate digital twin components and simulation architectures.

· Implement advanced algorithms for real-time fault detection and condition monitoring.

· Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to integrate model and algorithm.

· Contribute to AI/ML model integration together with data teams.

· Oversee integration of engineering principles into autonomous system development.

· Coordinate project timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder expectations.

 

Requirements for the position:

· Master’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, Computer Science, Physics, or related field.

· 5+ years of experience in system modeling and simulation development.

· Proven experience in developing physics-based or data-driven models.

· Hands-on programming experience (Python, C++, MATLAB/Simulink or similar).

· Experience working with digital twins or advanced simulation models.

 

Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:

· Hands-on experience creating digital twins or advanced simulation models for equipment and systems– from design through validation and deployment.

· Skills in signal processing, anomaly detection, or diagnostics from sensor data.

· Experience building AI/ML applications for industrial systems.

· Familiarity with FMI/FMU (Functional Mock-up Interface and Functional Mock-up Units), including model exchange and co-simulation workflows.

· Understanding of real-time fault detection and condition-based monitoring.

· Familiarity with IIoT, industrial sensors, or edge/cloud environments.

· Knowledge of Industry 4.0 standards and cybersecurity considerations.

· Strong analytical, communication, and collaboration skills.

· Fluent English
