Wärtsilä Energy Business is now looking for a (Senior) Technical Sales Support Manager, Civil with a civil engineering background, for our Technical Sales Support team. The ideal candidate will be located in Vaasa, Turku or Helsinki, Finland, or alternatively in Brazil, Argentina, Panama or Houston. This temporary position is suitable for job rotation, intended to last 14-15 months and partial remote work is also possible.
The position requires occasional global travelling to site visits and/or customer negotiations.
Responsibilities:
- Execute the civil mass and cost estimations for the Energy sales opportunities according to the scope of supply, layouts and other relevant info available for the opportunity
- Produce civil technical specifications according to the scope of supply and other requirements in the opportunity
- Provide input and/or coordinate solution engineering activities during an opportunity
- Support Proposal Management and Business Development Managers with techno/commercial proposals and with other proposal, design and engineering documentation
- Support Business Development Managers in building values, uncovering customer needs and requirements as well as proposing technical setup of plant solutions
- Support proposal management with clarifications, deviations, risk management, and mitigations of technical RFQ specifications and project requirements
- Participate or lead technical clarification and negotiations with internal and external stakeholders within their own discipline when required
- Perform technical and commercial evaluations of supplier offers
- Provide input and/or participate in solution development activities
- Follow up the actual cost for projects performed and provide/collect feedback to/from parties involved
- Determine local cost levels of installation countries with the local contractors, partners or sub-contracting stakeholders to expand and maintain a global installation cost database
- Investigate and produce civil discipline-related technical material to be inserted into the cost calculation software
- Support and participate in a win-loss sales project analysis
To succeed in this position, you are expected to:
- Hold a B.Sc. or M.Sc. in civil engineering
- Have 6 years of experience in civil engineering
- Have experience working in a multicultural environment
- Have cultural knowledge and excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Be proactive and have cost awareness and organizing skills
- Be able to communicate in English, and other language skills are considered an advantage

- Technical know-how in the civil discipline
- Project management skills
- Cost awareness and effectiveness
- Experience in civil cost estimating
- Understanding of cost estimation technologies
- Strong negotiation skills and good presentation skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making
- Willingness to learn new technologies and solutions
Work experience in some of the following areas is seen as a benefit:
- Steel structure design and engineering
- Concrete design and concrete works
- Heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning
- Site supervision for civil discipline
