We are looking for a Test Engineer or Senior Test Engineer (based on experience) with a main responsibility in planning, organizing, and executing component, performance, and functionality tests on technology or product development engine test platforms. The position is permanent and it is located in the Wärtsilä STH in Vaasa, Finland.
Your role and responsibilities:
As a Test Engineer, you are working in the front end of Wärtsilä’s engine and technology development. We offer you the possibility to participate in the development of future engine technologies and to contribute to the accelerating realization of decarbonization objectives as a part of a Single Cylinder Engine testing team with diverse expertise.
Your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Maintenance, development, and upgrading of test engines and test infra
- Steering, guiding, and carrying out mechanical assembly tasks related to different test setups
- Planning, organizing, and executing component, performance, and functionality tests on test engines
- Analysing and reporting of test results
- Verification of correct and properly saved measurement data
- Usage of different control and measurement programs
- Update and development of test methods and facilities
- Supporting different activities in product and technology testing
- Co-operating with product/platform teams and expert organization
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:
- Relevant technical education (MSc or BSc in suitable field of engineering)
- Interest in and basic knowledge of engine technology. Deeper knowledge of 4-stroke engine technology is an advantage
- Good skills in control & measurement systems are an advantage
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
- Good skills in communication and documentation
- Good team working skills, as well as the ability to work independently
- Good command of English. Finnish or Swedish is seen as an advantage
- Experience in Technology and Product Development related tasks is seen as an advantage
