We are now looking for four dynamic and safety-oriented Service Engineers, Mechanical to join our Wärtsilä Carnival PBL and Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCL) Marine Agreements team in Marine Field Services. The roles are offered as permanent contracts and can be based in any Wärtsilä location in Finland, Poland, Hungary, or the UK.  

 

We welcome applicants at various levels of seniority, as we offer positions for Service Engineers, Senior Service Engineers, and Superintendent Engineers.

 

The Parts & Field Service (P&FS) Marine Cruise Agreements Resource team is overseeing the Field Service resourcing for two extensive maintenance agreements: one with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines (RCL) and another with Carnival Corporation. Wärtsilä will manage all engine maintenance and monitoring, both scheduled and unscheduled. Additionally, Wärtsilä will be responsible for safely extending overhaul intervals whenever possible, thanks to their close monitoring of the ship’s engines.

 

 

What will you be doing?

 

As a Service Engineer in the Marine Field Service Cruise Agreements team, your primary focus will be on performing field service activities such as overhauls, maintenance, and troubleshooting on our Wärtsilä 4-stroke marine diesel engines, including the Wärtsilä 46F, Wärtsilä 46, Wärtsilä 46 Common Rail, Wärtsilä 46 TSDF, and Sulzer ZA40S. You will provide our customers with technical expertise and strive to deliver the best possible service experience, all while adhering to Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines and regulations.

 

In this exciting role, you will have the opportunity to work internationally, traveling the world for approximately 250-275 days per year. Thus, we hope that you are eager to travel and possess a strong field service mindset. When not traveling, you will have the flexibility to work remotely in accordance with our hybrid work model.

 

Success in this role requires technical experience in marine engineering and demonstrated expertise in operating, maintaining, and repairing 4-stroke marine diesel engines. Experience with and knowledge of Wärtsilä engines, along with experience with large bore engines, is highly advantageous. The ideal candidate will have a safety-first attitude and strong critical thinking and reasoning skills.

 

 

Your responsibilities for the role include, but are not limited to: 

 

  • Performing field service activities on Wärtsilä marine diesel engines according to the work plan and contractual obligations.
  • Conducting contract-specified overhauls and maintenance with the customer Riding Team.
  • Coordinating, delegating and executing on-site RT tasks.
  • Interacting professionally with customers throughout work execution, delivering solutions, and ensuring customer satisfaction.
  • Providing internal and external progress updates on assigned work.
  • Following up and reporting on the status of work orders to customers and internal stakeholders.
  • Creating Service Work reports.
  • Adhering to Wärtsilä QEHS guidelines, regulations, site procedures, and policies.

 

 

The below will enable you to succeed in this role:

 

  • Relevant technical education or a combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with marine installation operations, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Experience with medium-speed 4-stroke engines.
  • Knowledge of auxiliary systems.
  • Strong practical problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mindset, with the ability to adapt when faced with challenges.
  • Highly effective technical communication skills, both spoken and written.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills.
  • Proficient English language skills, both spoken and written.
  • Drive for the common goal of providing our customers with the best possible service experience. 

 

 

You will be at an advantage with:

 

  • Experience with Wärtsilä engines such as the W32, W38 A and B, Wärtsilä 46F, Wärtsilä 46, Wärtsilä 46 Common Rail, Wärtsilä 46 TSDF, or Sulzer ZA40S.
  • Knowledge of ABB and Napier turbochargers.
  • Experience working with electrical systems.
  • A US B1/B2 visa.
