Service Plan Quality Engineer
Join the Lifecycle Data Operations Centre of Excellence (LDO CoE) as a Service Plan Quality Engineer and play a critical role in delivering scalable, high-quality service plan content across Wärtsilä's Parts and Field Service Business Unit.
Sitting within the Product Lifecycle Management function, this position is dedicated to ensuring that every service plan meets rigorous quality standards, aligns with operational and commercial objectives, and supports the strategic transformation towards digitalised lifecycle services.
The preferred location for this permanent position is Vaasa or Helsinki, Finland; Drunen, Netherlands or Trieste, Italy. Turku, Finland and other main Wärtsilä office locations in Europe can also be considered. Due to limitation outlined by data processing guidelines, locations outside of Europe can’t be accepted for the roles. In line with our hybrid work model, you will be able to work partially remotely.
About the role:
As the Service Plan Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for establishing Definition of Done and Acceptance criteria for each Service Plan, within the Service Plan Operations Framework (SPOP). Furthermore, you will be securing this Definition of Done and Acceptance Criteria are met at every release-stage of the SPOP, until deployment. Your mission is to guarantee the deployed Service Plan meets the commercial and strategic targets set by business in the initiating phase, ensuring that deployed service plans deliver measurable business value and meet customer expectations.
You will collaborate with Service Plan Engineers, Delivery Lead, Deployment Expert, and wide range of stakeholders across Wärtsilä at all different levels, ensuring quality gates are consistently upheld and continuous improvement is embedded in the process.
Key responsibilities:
-
Establish Definition of Done and Acceptance criteria for Service Plan Operations together with stakeholders and process experts in the R0 Phase within the Service Plan factory model.
-
Take ownership of and follow up the open topics identified in R0, with goal to create an approved Definition of Done and Acceptance criteria document.
-
Own and operate quality gates throughout the SPOP process, validating service plan content at each phase (R0-R4) against established criteria and standards.
-
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (LC PM & OD, Technical Services, Field Services, Workshops, Business Unit Development) to ensure alignment, mitigate scope creep, and maintain RACI integrity.
-
Oversee the Service Plan quality operations including applicability rules, deviation management, change request alignment, and backlog creation for lifecycle data.
-
Train the Service Plan Maintenance operations to run continuous quality management for deployed service plans, facilitating feedback loops and driving improvements in data quality.
-
Participate in creations of training materials and operational guidelines relating to service plan quality (within the Service Plan Factory model).
-
Ensure that quality management practices support the industrialisation and scaling of service plan operations, enabling structured content delivery and customer-centric solutions.
The ideal candidate must possess these skills and capabilities:
-
Proven experience in quality assurance, process improvement, or data validation within technical or operational environments.
-
Understanding of engineering data management and its application in lifecycle data operations.
-
Ability to interpret operational and commercial requirements and translate them into actionable quality management plans.
-
Excellent analytical skills with a proactive approach to identifying risks, resolving deviations, and driving continuous improvement.
-
Ensure the Stakeholders focus on determined DoD and Acceptance criteria only, stopping any unrelated evaluations and time drains, to ensure compliance, commercial rationale and operational continuity.
-
Experience in developing and implementing SOPs, quality gates, and feedback mechanisms.
-
Positive attitude and readiness to support a newly established function in delivering impactful change.
