Position description

 

The Product Engineering & Lifecycle Management (PELM) team is looking for a Solution Manager, Lifecycle Data Platform, to take ownership of a new technology platform for future business application development, develop changes, keep the systems running and deliver smooth services to business stakeholders.

 

Our software stack: data warehouses (data source), Airflow ELT system, Neo4j graph database as a service from Neo4j, GraphGL-based API layer

 

A Solution Manager, Lifecycle Data Platform, will support the Product Engineering & Lifecycle Management team to achieve its targets. The team is responsible for defining and delivering IT services in its domain, managing service, solution and application lifecycles of Wärtsilä’s design and engineering systems, calculation and simulation systems, product configurator systems, content publishing systems, PLM reports, Lifecycle Data platform (SLM) as well as PDM/PLM systems.

 

The team develops and manages service specifications, and solution roadmaps according to architectural guidelines, and creates functional specifications out of received business requirements for internal or external solution development. It is also responsible for delivering projects within and related to various development projects and programs in the PLM and engineering domain.

 

This is a global position with the possibility of partial remote work but the preferred location for this permanent role is in Vaasa, Finland or alternatively, within a similar time zone. For instance, Turku or Helsinki, Finland, can also be considered.

 

Responsibilities:

 

  • Responsible for lifecycle management of own solution area as a service
  • Manage changes and releases, new requirements, solution specifications, development and documentation within own functional area 
  • Participate in future business projects to utilise connected data in applications
  • Make solution proposals and provide information to support decision-making concerning the solution
  • Support business stakeholders to prioritise the continuous development pipeline and manage the prioritised continuous development backlog in their own responsibility area
  • By following guidelines and a set of frameworks, provide a significant contribution as a subject matter expert for the development and total delivery of solutions in optimal alignment with business requirements, related tasks typically include: 
    • Solution area roadmap definition and documentation 
    • Requirements specification (functional requirements) and review of implementation specifications
  • Maintain, monitor and enhance Airflow (Python) based data pipeline to extract data and populate our graph database
  • Maintain a data catalogue for documenting the graph data models using automation
  • Maintain, monitor and develop GraphQL API schema
  • Coordination and communication with external/internal partners and stakeholders
  • Drive continuous service improvement, identifying and implementing process enhancements together with stakeholders and vendors
  • Ensure that appropriate governance is in place
  • Oversee service delivery, ensuring adherence to SLAs and KPIs
  • Manage service TCO, and optimise application costs and provide input to a rolling forecast
  • Manage a virtual service team consisting of internal and external personnel
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure service delivery
  • Manage assigned solution services and tasks according to ITSM best practices
  • Foster strong customer relationships and collaborate with business units
  • Ensure IT services comply with security standards and regulatory requirements
  • Maintain documentation and provide regular reports on service performance
  • Oversee change management processes to minimise disruptions

 

Requirements:

 

  • Education: M.Sc. in Information Technology, Engineering or Sciences
  • 6+ years of experience in master data management, information/data modelling or product data management domain
  • Experience in consulting, gathering and analysing customer requirements and turning them into solution designs 
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of graph data modelling and relational databases
  • Development experience in Agile development methodology
  • Capability of data modelling and abstract thinking
  • Strong experience with SQL
  • Python knowledge
  • Experience working with Neo4j Graph database and Cypher query language is an advantage
  • Passion for Agile/Scrum and DevOps culture
  • Development mindset regarding future technologies: GenAI with graph data
  • Excellent collaboration and presentation skills 
  • Proactive, development-minded and goal-focused attitude to work
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and regulatory compliance is vital to safeguarding sensitive data and maintaining security standards
  • Wärtsilä business knowledge is a great advantage
