Information Security organization is responsible for the oversight and coordination of information security efforts across the company and is responsible for identifying security standards, initiatives, as well as setting the strategic direction of the firm’s information security program. Information Security drives risk management as well as security compliance and serves as the key organization responsible with helping the business appropriately manage security risks.


Specialist, Information Security will be responsible for developing and deploying administrative, technical and procedural (prevent, detect, and respond) controls and mechanisms to help ensure Information Security is implemented and managed at a consistent level across the company according to the objectives.

Specialist, Information Security reports to Director, Information Security 


Key Responsibilities:

  • Identification, governance and remediation of cyber risks within platforms, applications, supporting infrastructure and systems.
  • Operate as Information Security Subject Matter Expert in various projects. 
  • Assist in the development of security solutions for Wärtsilä infrastructure.
  • Work with Information Management and business teams to develop solutions in a secure fashion and to ensure confidentiality, integrity and availability of Wärtsilä data.
  • Utilize existing vulnerability management, security configuration management and web application scanning tools and processes to extend coverage, increase effectiveness and expand capabilities.
  • Determine the severity of risks, assess potential impacts, recommend next steps and controls, help with risk treatment and mitigation.
  • Possess the ability to effectively identify, evaluate and communicate new and ongoing security threats.
  • Maintain knowledge of the latest security threats, new recommendations & standards, features and capabilities to help mitigating cyber risks.
  • Detailed responsibility area is agreed and defined with selected person.


General Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Innovative mind-set and the ability to challenge existing approaches to information security
  • Possess strong technical security skills and comprehension of security and risks.
  • Ability to work on complex projects and with diverse teams
  • Knowledge and experience from some of the following:
    • Office 365 Infrastructure & Security solutions, Identity protection, compliance etc.
    • Infrastructure security, security configurations management, device hardening, business continuity etc.
    • IM architectures and enterprise data centers, integrations, externally hosted services and cloud computing environments. 
    • Security management tools (e.g. vulnerability scanners, data loss prevention, digital rights management etc.) and perimeter technologies (e.g. firewalls, cloud access security brokers and intrusion prevention etc.).
    • Configuration management, risk assessment, exception management and security baselines & controls (e.g. CIS Baselines, NIST, vendor security technical implementation guides etc.).
    • Assessing threats to and identifying weaknesses in operating system platforms, office products, database and application servers, etc.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently with limited supervision.
  • Excellent writing and verbal communication skills, interpersonal and presentation skills and the proven ability to influence and communicate effectively.
  • Security-related certifications is considered a plus e.g. SSCP, CISSP, CEH, etc.
