Supplier Development Engineer

Are you energetic, self-driven and willing to lead supply chain development in a multinational environment?
We are looking for a Supplier Development Engineer in Supply Management in Wärtsilä Marine Power, Power Supply, to work in the Category 30 MRO Production, with Engine Modules. The preferred location for this position is in Vaasa, Finland but other locations in Finland can be considered. There is also possibility for partial remote work on weekly basis. The position is permanent and may also include travelling.
Your role and responsibilities:
- Actively support and coordinate new module introduction and lead systematic quality assurance activities for the outsourced modules
- Analyse supplier performance, identify development opportunities and drive the development actions
- Develop and execute supplier development action plans to improve supplier performance
- Support suppliers with their operational efficiency and development initiatives about cost, quality and delivery
- Execute supplier audits and audit follow-up according to supplier development action plan
- Point of contact for suppliers with escalated issues
Below you’ll find the criteria to be successful in this position:
- Technical knowledge of engine module assemblies and structures
- Knowhow of sourcing of assemblies
- Strong personal drive for continuous development and taking action on initiatives
- Performance-focused mindset
- A systematic way of working and excellent problem-solving skills
- Great teamwork, coordination and communication skills
- Capability to apply lean principles and statistical process control in daily work to drive improvement
- Experience in Production Part Approval Process / Experience in quality management for example in manufacturing processes
- Technical educational background
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written
