We are looking for a Supplier Development Engineer with a main responsibility in Turned and machined parts & pipes. The preferred location for this position is in Finland, Vaasa or in Italy, Trieste, other Wärtsilä locations in Finland are negotiable. We offer a possibility to hybrid remote work.
Your role and responsibilities:
As a Supplier Development Engineer your work will consist of:
• Managing new product introduction and leading proactive quality assurance activities for turned and machined parts & pipes
• Analysing supplier performance and capabilities, identifying development opportunities and driving impactful development actions
• Developing and executing supplier development action plans to improve supplier performance
• Supporting suppliers with their operational development initiatives in relation to quality, delivery and cost
• Executing supplier audits and audit follow-up according to supplier development action plan and verify impact
The tasks can also be adjusted based on your individual skills and interests. You’ll be working as a part of impactful Supplier Development team and Category team with diverse expertise.
Requirements for the position:
- Strong expertise/previous experience of metal technologies
- Quality Process Management understanding
- Excellent communication, self leadership and teamworking skills
- Strong personal drive for identifying development potential and taking lead on initiatives
- Performance-focused mindset and capability to make an impact
- A systematic way of working and excellent problem-solving skills
- Capability to apply continuous improvement principles and statistical process control in daily work for driving improvement
Qualifications/to be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Engineering or Economics and or qualified equivalent
- Fluency in English, both verbal and written
- Willingness to travel
- Experience of Production Part Approval Process / Experience in quality management for example in manufacturing processes
- Previous auditing experience or lead auditor qualification (e.g ISO 9001) is seen as an advantage
