Supplier Development Engineer

We are looking for a Supplier Development Engineer to join the Supplier Development and Quality Control family in the Supply Management department in Wärtsilä Energy. Role of this SDE position will be in local categories supplier assessment and development and nuclear suppliers qualification.

In Supplier Development Engineer position you are verifying that suppliers are following Wärtsilä requirements by assessments and audits.  You will also monitor and develop supplier performance, quality, delivery reliability and perform supplier audits on supplier premises.

 

Location of this permanent position is Vaasa or other Wärtsilä offices in Finland (Turku, Helsinki), with hybrid remote working possibilities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute Supplier Assessment and Development actions and improvements for local categories in Europe & Africa, Middle East and Asia, Americas.
  • Support Energy projects with local suppliers and deliveries.
  • Assess, qualify and maintain nuclear suppliers in Wärtsilä Energy delivery scope.
  • Verify and maintain suppliers and contractors compliance to Wärtsilä´s supplier requirements and capability to deliver good quality products.
  • Gather and analyse supplier performance data.
  • Support suppliers with their operational efficiency, organizational growth, product improvement and development initiative.
  • Participate in the development of Wärtsilä tools and procedures for Supplier Development in assigned development projects.

 

 

The below will help you to shine in this role:

  • M.Sc or B.Sc in industrial management or engineering or equivalent field
  • Preferably previous work experience from mechanical, civil or electrical engineering, processes,  project management, sourcing / supply management or procurement.
  • Strong personal drive, used to take own initiatives and be pro-active
  • Good presentation and teamwork skills
  • Systematic and active approach to work
  • Knowledge of quality, environmental, health and safety management systems (QEHS), welding quality (IWS, IWT, IWE, IWI) are seen as an advantage.
  • Previous experience of supplier and process audits, nuclear audits and lead auditor qualification (e.g ISO 9001) are seen as an advantage
  • Possibility to travel minimum of 40 – 60 days in a year
  • Fluent in English and Finnish or Swedish
