System Architect, Automation & Control

We are looking for an experienced embedded and edge System architect, Automation & Control with a main responsibility in leading Wärtsilä engine automation system architecture development.

The preferred location for this position is Vaasa, Finland but also Turku, Finland and Helsinki, Finland are negotiable. We offer a possibility to hybrid remote work.
  

 

Your role and responsibilities  

 

As a System Architect, Automation & Control for our engine automation system, you understand the system end-to-end and can translate business requirements into holistic technical designs and solutions with an innovative mindset. You work closely with engine development and use the engine’s functional needs as the foundation for your architectural design. You will also guide and coach our development teams. The scope of the role can be tailored to your individual skills and interests. You will be a member of our architecture team.

 

 

Requirements for the position:

 

  • University degree in Automation, Process engineering, Computer Science or similar.
  • Experience in leading architecture development of connected embedded (electronics and software) and edge systems.
  • Excellent teamworking, coaching and communication skills.
  • Fluency in verbal and written English, our everyday work language is mainly English.

 

 

To be able to succeed in the position we expect you to have: 

 

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience in developing software for real-time embedded systems.
  • 5+ years of experience in leading architects and technical experts.
  • 10+ years of experience in integrating system Hardware/Firmware/Software/Tools.
  • Capacity of thinking systems holistically.
  • Understanding of closed loop control loops and digital signal processing.
  • Experience in agile methodologies.
  • Knowledge of internal combustion engines is seen as a merit.
