We are looking for a Quality Team Leader with a main responsibility to lead and develop an experienced team of quality inspectors and ensure high standards of safety, quality, and environmental performance within our operations. The location for this position is Vaasa, Finland.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Team Lead your work will consist of a combination of hands-on quality expertise with supervisory responsibility, supporting workshops and production teams in delivering right-first-time quality. You’ll be working as a part of the skilled STH Quality team with diverse expertise.
Your work will focus on these responsibilities:

Address identified safety, quality, and environmental deviations within own area of responsibility by analyzing quality data, monitoring outcomes, and producing reports and recommendations to enhance process effectiveness and efficiency.

Perform supervisory duties including onboarding of new employees, working time tracking, payroll-related matters, and other HR-assigned tasks

Lead and support the activities of quality inspectors, including planning, coordination, and guidance of inspections

Develop the team’s competence, working methods, and continuous improvement practices

Maintain and develop team meeting practices

Ensure routines for the distribution and submission of issue reports and defect notifications

Make repair, acceptance, and rejection decisions for parts according to agreed criteria

Participate in workshop quality meetings and collaborate with cross-functional teams to support effective quality management and foster a strong culture of quality

Ensure the team’s participation in workshop Problem Solving meetings

Maintain and develop inspection and quality control training

Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of quality processes, practices, systems, and tools
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:

A technical background and knowledge of Wärtsilä Engines
-
Up-to-date expertise in quality assurance standards, industry trends, and best practices
-
Good collaboration skills and experience of leading high-functioning teams

Fluent Finnish and English skills, both written and spoken
