Test Engineer, SCE Testing

Wärtsilä Marine Power, Power Supply, R&D and Engineering, Testing & Validation is looking for several persons as Test Engineers as our activities are growing.
 
As a Test Engineer, you are working in the front end of Wärtsilä’s engine and technology development. We are offering you a possibility to participate in the development of future engine technologies and to contribute to the accelerating realization of decarbonization objectives as a part of a skilled test team. The position is permanent, and the location will be in Vaasa, Finland.  You will report to Manager of corresponding testing area.
 
As a Test Engineer, you will focus on these responsibilities: 

  • Maintenance, development and upgrading of test engines and test infra
  • Steering, guiding, and carrying out mechanical assembly tasks related to different test set-ups
  • Planning, organizing and executing component, performance and functionality tests on production engines, laboratory engines, field engines and test rigs
  • Analysing and reporting of test results
  • Verification of correct and properly saved measurement data
  • Usage of different control and measurement programs
  • Update and development of test methods and facilities
  • Supporting different activities in engine and technology testing
  • Co-operating with product / platform teams and expert organisation
  • Controlling and supporting the production and field engines

 
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

  • Relevant technical education (MSc or BSc in mechanical engineering).
  • Interest in and basic knowledge of engine technology. Deeper knowledge of 4-stroke engine technology is an advantage
  • Good skills in control & measurement systems is an advantage
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
  • Good skills in communication and documentation
  • Good team working skills, as well as ability to work independently
  • Good command of English and Finnish or Swedish

 
We also hope that you demonstrate a clear attitude in:

  • Making things happen by executing measurement setups and doing mechanical activities on test engines and laboratory engine test cells
  • High quality by ensuring that the test results are reliable and in compliance with industry specific standards and Wärtsilä guidelines
  • Cooperation by balancing the work load in the team
