Wärtsilä Marine Power, Power Supply, R&D and Engineering, Testing & Validation is looking for a Test Engineer for Small & Medium Bore Testing. As a Test Engineer, you are working with the engines together with a team of other experts, in the very core of Wärtsilä’s engine development. You are participating in the development of future engine technologies and contributing to the realization of decarbonization objectives.
Position information:
The position is permanent, and the location will be in Vaasa, Finland.
Responsibilities for the Test Engineer positions:
- Planning, organizing, and executing component, performance and functionality tests on laboratory engines, production engines and occasionally field engines
- Running the engine, performing the tests, and validating the product
- Analysing and reporting of test results
- Investigating and troubleshooting findings
- Verification of correct and properly saved measurement data
- Usage of different control and measurement programs
- Steering, guiding, and carrying out mechanical assembly tasks related to different test setups
- Maintenance, development and upgrading of test engines and test infra
- Update and development of test methods and facilities
- Co-operating with R&D teams and other expert organizations
- Occasionally supporting the production and field engines
- Supporting different activities in engine and technology testing
Qualifications & Desired Skills:
- Relevant technical education (MSc or BSc in mechanical or automation or electrical engineering).
- Interest in engines and basic knowledge of engine technology. Deeper knowledge of 4-stroke engine technology is an advantage.
- Good skills in control & measurement systems are an advantage.
- Good computer skills.
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings.
- Good skills in communication and documentation.
- Good team working skills, as well as the ability to work independently.
- Good command of English.
