Test Engineer

Wärtsilä Power Supply, R&D and Engineering, Testing & Validation is looking for a Test Engineer to the Small & Medium Bore Engine Testing team. 
 
Testing & Validation operates engines and rig test platforms in several test laboratories with the main purpose of testing new concepts and technologies and validating new components and product releases for Wärtsilä engines. In this position you will be involved in engine testing for future fuels.
 
Position information:
 
The position is permanent and will be located in Vaasa, Finland.

 

Responsibilities:
 

  • Planning, organizing and executing component and performance tests on the production, laboratory and field engines
  • Plan and execute measurements and automation related to engine testing activities
  • Analysing and reporting test results
  • Working in close cooperation with expert organisations and supporting the validation and release /delivery process of engines and systems
  • Developing and improving test methods and facilities
  • Supporting production and field engines

 

Requirements:
 

  • Relevant technical education (BSc or MSc preferred in Electrical/Automation or Mechanical engineering)
  • Knowledge of 4-stroke combustion engines
  • Strong internal motivation, passion for execution
  • Good communication and teamwork skills, as well as the ability to travel, work independently and globally
  • Structured way of working
  • Knowledge of reciprocating engine control systems like UniTool etc., and data acquisition systems seen as an advantage
  • Relevant technical background with Wärtsilä engine product family, system and solution seen as an advantage
  • Finnish or Swedish spoken language is mandatory
