Test Engineer

Wärtsilä Marine Power, Power Supply, R&D and Engineering, Testing & Validation is looking for a Test Engineer as our activities are growing.

 

As a Test Engineer, you are working in the front end of Wärtsilä’s engine and technology development. We are offering you a possibility to participate in the development of future engine technologies and to contribute to the accelerating realization of decarbonization objectives as a part of a skilled test team. The position is permanent, and the location will be in Vaasa, Finland.  You will report to Manager of corresponding testing area.

 

As a Test Engineer, you will focus on these responsibilities: 

 

  • Analysing, reporting of test results and verification of correct and properly saved measurement data.
  • Engine control system testing/development and validation
  • Performance testing/optimization of engine

 

  • Planning, organizing and executing component, performance and functionality tests on production engines, laboratory engines, field engines and test rigs.
  • Co-operating with product / platform teams and expert organisation.
  • Usage of different control and measurement systems.
  • Update and development of test methods and facilities.
  • Controlling and supporting the production and field engines.
  • Maintenance, development and upgrading of test engines and test infra.

 

 

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:

 

  • Relevant technical education (MSc or BSc in mechanical or automation engineering).
  • Interest in and basic knowledge of engine technology. Deeper knowledge of 4-stroke engine technology is an advantage.
  • Skills in control & measurement systems is an advantage.
  • Good skills in communication and documentation.
  • Good team working skills, as well as ability to work independently.
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Good command of English and Finnish or Swedish.

 

We also hope that you demonstrate a clear attitude in:

 

  • Making things happen by executing mechanical activities and doing measurements on test engines and laboratory engine test cells.
  • High quality by ensuring that the test results are reliable and in compliance with industry specific standards and Wärtsilä guidelines.
  • Cooperation by balancing the work load in the team.
