We are looking for a Vibration Engineer with a main responsibility for delivering noise and vibration engineering analyses, measurements and solutions for marine projects during the sales and project execution phases. The preferred location for this permanent position is Vaasa, Finland. We offer possibility for hybrid work.
Your role and responsibilities
As a Vibration Engineer, you will work in a global, innovative and customer-driven organisation. This delivery-oriented role focuses on providing high-quality engineering analysis and solutions that meet project needs and customer expectations. Your work may include performing noise and vibration measurements during factory acceptance testing of generating sets for advanced passenger and research vessels, as well as presenting vibration analysis results and selected power transmission solutions for cutting-edge hybrid ferry projects. You will be working as part of our skilled Noise & Vibration Engineering team within Customer Solution Engineering in Power Supply, providing specialist expertise across all marine projects.
Your work will focus on these responsibilities:
- Perform noise and vibration measurements during engine factory acceptance tests
- Participate in delivery projects as the Noise & Vibration Engineer in the project team
- Perform torsional vibration calculations in both frequency and time domains
- Perform resilient mounting calculations
- Create technical specifications in accordance with internal standards
- Prepare and deliver detailed measurement and calculation reports to customers and classification societies
- Provide technical expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders on noise and vibration topics
- Develop measurement and analysis methodologies and technical solutions together with internal stakeholders and suppliers
To be able to succeed in the position, we expect you to have:
- M.Sc. or B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering field
- Strong background in mathematics and physics
- Fundamental knowledge of structural dynamics, vibration and modal analysis
- Interest in internal combustion engines
- Fluent written and spoken English and solid MS Office skills. Finnish or Swedish language skill is considered as an advantage
- Analytical mindset and a systematic, proactive and organised way of working
- Practical problem-solving approach and strong technical reporting skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an international environment, with willingness to learn and adopt new technologies
The following are considered an advantage:
- Practical experience in linear vibration, airborne noise, torsional vibration or modal measurements
- Knowledge of signal processing
- Experience of or interest in engine dynamics
- Experience with data acquisition system hardware and transducers
- Knowledge of relevant ISO standards related to noise and vibration
- Experience with torsional vibration analysis or marine power systems
