About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Business Analyst/Technical Writer to join our team. This hybrid role combines analytical problem-solving with technical documentation expertise to ensure seamless communication between stakeholders, development teams, and end-users. This individual will bridge the gap between business needs and technical solutions while creating clear, concise, and user-friendly documentation.
 
This role offers a unique opportunity to combine business insight with technical expertise, making it perfect for someone passionate about driving organizational success through communication and technology.
 
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with a positive attitude and strong communication skills.  Candidates must be located in Vancouver and work in the office 4-days per week.
 
Responsibilities
 
Business Analysis:

  • Work with stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze business requirements.
  • Conduct gap analyses to identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Create user stories, workflows, and business process models to support project objectives.
  • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure the development aligns with business goals.
  • Support testing efforts by defining acceptance criteria and facilitating UAT (User Acceptance Testing).

 
Technical Writing:

  • Produce high-quality documentation, including requirement specifications, system documentation, training materials, and user manuals.
  • Translate complex technical information into clear, concise, and readable content for diverse audiences.
  • Maintain and update existing documentation to reflect new features, updates, or process changes.
  • Develop templates, style guides, and documentation standards to ensure consistency.
  • Create visual aids, such as diagrams, charts, and infographics, to enhance technical content.

 
Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Technical Writing, or related fields is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience as a Technical Writer, or similar role.
  • Proven experience working with cross-functional teams in an Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Experience in the maritime industry is an asset but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, or other process modelling tools.
  • Familiarity with project management tools like JIRA, Trello, or Asana is helpful.
  • Experience with documentation tools like Confluence, and Microsoft SharePoint.
  • Understanding of APIs, databases, and basic coding concepts is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to interact with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Attention to detail and a focus on quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Adaptable to changing project requirements.
  • Eager to learn new technologies and tools.
  • Collaborative mindset with a focus on delivering value.

For applicants that reside in BC, the annual salary wage range is $65,000 CAD - $85,000 CAD. The starting salary for this position would be determined with consideration of the successful candidate’s relevant education, individual skill set, level of experience applicable to the role they are being offered and consideration of internal equity.
