About the Role
The Software Business Analyst plays a critical role in bridging the gap between business stakeholders and the IT development team. You will be responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying needs, and developing strategies to improve business processes through software solutions. Ensuring that software development aligns with business objectives and requirements will be at the heart of your work. We are seeking a dynamic individual to join our team, with the preferred locations being Vancouver, Canada.
This role offers a hybrid work schedule, requiring four days per week at our Vancouver office.
Responsibilities
As a Software Business Analyst at Wärtsilä, your key responsibilities will include:Gathering and AnalysisEngage with stakeholders to gather comprehensive business and technical requirements.Document and translate business needs into clear technical specifications and user stories.Conduct gap analysis and feasibility studies to recommend improvements.Stakeholder ManagementAct as the primary liaison between business stakeholders and the IT development team.Facilitate communication to ensure mutual understanding and alignment of expectations.Manage stakeholder expectations and prioritize project needs effectively.
Project Management Support
- Support project planning, monitoring, and reporting activities to ensure timely delivery.
- Assist in the creation of project plans, timelines, and key milestones.
- Monitor project progress and proactively address any emerging issues.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have the following qualifications and skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field (preferred).
- PMP Certification is required.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience as a Business Analyst in software development projects, with a solid understanding of software development life cycles.
- Experience working with Agile methodologies and tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence).
- Knowledge of the Marine Industry or Port Operations is a distinct advantage.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Ideal candidates should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
