Supplier Development Engineer

In this position you will be responsible for:

  • Identifing, developing and executing supplier development actions
  • Monitoring and analysing supplier performance and will provide guidance accordingly
  • Taking ownership and action on Quality, Delivery and Cost activities utilising defined supplier development tools (e.g. supplier audit, Go&See, WPAP, PQAP)
  • Actively participate in the category action plan creation including decision making of supplier rationalisation and change
  • Executing supplier audits and audit follow-up according to supplier audit plan
  • Developing and executing supplier development action plan for supplier improvements
  • Supporting suppliers with their operational efficiency / organisational growth / product improvement and development initiative
  • Assessing and following up the suppliers' quality management systems and Supplier Management System (VMS) rating
  • Being the point of contact for suppliers with an escalated quality, delivery or technical problem
  • Participating in the development of Wärtsilä's tools and procedures for Supplier Development and in other assigned development projects

 

 

We would like you to have:

  • Process development and project management knowledge coupled with a strong focus on quality, speed and cost
  • Solution oriented approach, capability to implement and persistency to follow-up activities in order to ensure sustainability
  • Knowledge of manufacturing process and testing, in particular for Hydraulics,  forging and Electrical equipment
  • Ability to work in a distributed team and have a self-driven approach
  • Good communication and presentation skills to effectively deliver the messages to different audiences and target groups
  • Fluent command in English, both oral and written
  • Solid understanding of sourcing and supply management
  • Experience and understanding of Operational Excellence principles and awareness about working with Continuous Improvement Process tools regarding Quality, Delivery and Cost (Kaizen, 5S, 6 Sigma, etc.)
  • Knowledge of SD toolbox, SAP and Wärtsilä’s reporting tool are seen as advantages

 

We hope you have:

  • Professional expertise within Supply Chain management, Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality
  • Experience in working with Continuous Improvement Process tools regarding Quality, Delivery and Cost such as Kaizen, 5S, 6 Sigma, considered as a plus.
  • University / Polytechnic Degree in Industrial Engineering and/or Business or equivalent education is desired
  • Manufacturing/Technical background & experience
  • Can do attitude
  • Result oriented working method
  • Fresh graduates with potential are acceptable
