Supplier development engineer

Your main responsibilities are
- Identify, develop and execute supplier development actions
- Monitor and analyse supplier performance and give guidance accordingly
- Take ownership and action on Quality, Delivery and Cost activities utilizing defined supplier development tools (e.g. supplier audit, Go&See, WPAP, PQAP)
- Actively participate in the Category action plan creation including decision making of supplier rationalization and change
- Execute supplier audits and audit follow-up according to supplier audit plan
- Develop and execute supplier development action plan for supplier improvements
- Support suppliers with their operational efficiency / organizational growth / product improvement and development initiative
- Assess and follow up the suppliers' quality management systems and Supplier Management System (VMS) rating
- Point of contact for supplier with an escalated quality, delivery or technical problem
- Participate in the development of Wärtsilä's tools and procedures for Supplier Development and in other assigned development projects
You will shine in this role when you have:
Desired Skills:
- Process development and project management knowledge coupled with a strong focus on quality, speed and cost
- Solution oriented approach, capability to implement and persistency to follow-up activities in order to ensure sustainability
- Knowledge of casting/forging/welding manufacturing process and testing, in particular hydraulics and E-motor
- Able to work in a distributed team and self-driven approach
- Good communication and presentation skills to effectively deliver the messages to different audiences and target groups
- Fluent command in English, both oral and written
- Solid understanding of sourcing and supply management
- Experience and understanding of Operational Excellence principles and awareness about working with Continuous Improvement Process tools regarding Quality, Delivery and Cost (Kaizen, 5S, 6 Sigma, etc.)
- Knowledge of SD toolbox, SAP and Wärtsilä's reporting tool are seen as advantages
Education:
- University / Polytechnic Degree in Industrial Engineering and/or Business or equivalent education.
- Manufacturing/Technical background & experience.
- At least 3 years experience as industrial engineer /and purchasing, preferably with experience in Engineering, Manufacturing operations or quality.
- Can do attitude and result oriented working method
Experience:
- Relevant technical and manufacturing knowledge
- Professional expertise within Supply Chain management, Engineering, Manufacturing or Quality
- Experience in working with Continuous Improvement Process tools regarding Quality, Delivery and Cost such as Kaizen, 5S, 6 Sigma, considered as a plus.
