Mechanical Engineer - American Hydro Corporation

The Mechanical Engineer is a full-time member of the Turbine Design Engineering department, responsible for the mechanical design and analysis of hydro turbine components. They will work closely with senior engineers and under the supervision of the Manager of Turbine Design Engineering to design new and rehabilitated components, perform structural analyses and stress calculations, prepare engineering reports, and create design and manufacturing drawings. It is expected that the Mechanical Engineer will progress to the mechanical lead for projects of increasing scope and complexity.

 

Ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in mechanical design and lay out of custom hydro-turbine equipment.  Interface with the complete powerhouse equipment scope to include generator, balance-of-plant equipment, and civil structure
  • Ability to perform stress calculation on critical components and produce CAD drawings in all manufactured parts
  • Experience as serving as technical lead on projects including all phases of design, tolerancing, layout, and detail drawings.  Conduct design review meetings with Operations, Project Management, and Field Service
  • Experience composing Operations and Maintenance Manuals and support Field Service with installation and commissioning work
  • Experience performing after-market testing and troubleshooting of turbine mechanical issues
  • Experience preparing technical papers and presentations for major conferences

 

Education:

BS in Engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering

 

This position is authorized for consideration for hybrid remote work after 90 days of service.  Successful candidate must be willing to report into facility on remote days if needed.
