Welder Co-Op - AMERICAN HYDRO CORPORATION

Steeped in a tradition of hydropower, American Hydro is the leading supllier and installer of large equipment for the hydro electric industry. American Hydro is currently looking for WELDER CO-OP to add to the family at our York, PA facility.  We are tight-knit group that takes a great deal of pride in what we produce.  If you are a detail orientated hardworker who is looking for place to learn, we invite you to apply to this opening.

Ideal candidate will be enrolled in a 4 year pre-employment welding program. 

Main Learning Opportunities:

  • Develop understanding of safety requirements to work in large plate shop environment.
  • Obtain exposure and involvement with tasks required for a welding position.
  • Learn how to operate welding equipment and power equipment being used in the shop.
  • Become qualified to perform FCAW qualification in the 2G and 3G position. 

Technical Skills Needed:

  • Knowledge of arc welding processes and procedures.  General understanding of welding equipment and consumables, metal processing, heating of metals and shop safety

Mathematical Skills Needed:

  • Understand and calculate dimensional and quantity figures in both fractions and decimals
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry

Physical Demands:

  • Employee must occassionally life and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Ability to stand for shift
