We are looking for a Senior Service Engineer E&A to join the Field Service and Workshop Mediterranean Team in Istanbul, Turkey.

 

This position is offered as a 12-month temporary contract, with the possibility to transition into a full-time role depending on the candidate’s performance.

 

This role is responsible for performing and/or leading commissioning, service, and troubleshooting activities for engine and auxiliary systems, as well as preparing technical reports.

 

Your role and responsibilities

As a Senior Service Engineer E&A, responsibilities include:

 

  • Performing pre-commissioning and commissioning of Wärtsilä equipment, including the latest automation technologies for marine installations.
  • Troubleshooting faults by identifying failures, making adjustments, and supporting sea trials and testing activities to meet expected performance requirements.
  • Commissioning of engines and related systems (e.g., Catalyst NOR, SCR, CPP, LNG systems).
  • Inspecting, testing, and adjusting systems such as engines and auxiliary equipment.
  • Conducting site audits when required.
  • Contributing to product improvement initiatives during warranty activities.
  • Preparing internal and external reports in line with Wärtsilä standards.
  • Ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through professional execution and effective communication.
  • Complying with all applicable regulations, policies, work procedures, and safety guidelines.
  • Adhering strictly to safety standards and using appropriate protective equipment.

 

Requirements for the position

 

  • Technical background with 3–5 years of relevant experience, ideally in shipyards or marine environments.
  • Working knowledge of engine automation software (experience with UNIC systems is an advantage).
  • Strong commitment to safety and a “safety-first” mindset.
  • Good command of English (written and spoken).
  • Willingness to travel within Turkey (shipyards, ports) and internationally as required.

  • Degree in Electrical & Automation (E&A), Mechatronics, or a related field.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team in demanding environments.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
  • Motivation to continuously learn and develop new competencies.
  • Effective technical communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Experience in marine engineering is considered an asset.
